The Corporate Governance Secretary (CG Secretary) is a crucial function of the Board of Directors (BOD), holding a key position in strategies and actions aimed at effective and sustainable corporate governance. The Corporate Governance Secretary has three main responsibilities: assisting the Board of Directors in implementing and improving corporate governance programs for the company; connecting board members with investors and stakeholders; and linking the Board with the Executive Management to achieve effective and sustainable corporate governance.

The Advanced Program on Corporate Governance Secretaries (CSMP) is one of the core programs organized by the Vietnam Institute of Directors (VIOD) aimed at enhancing understanding of the functions, duties, and responsibilities of Corporate Governance Secretaries within the corporate governance ecosystem of businesses.

Participants will gain access to a knowledge framework that provides deep insight into the roles and responsibilities of Corporate Governance Secretaries, helping the Board of Directors operate effectively and enabling the improvement and enhancement of corporate governance quality. Through interactive case studies and practical examples, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and explore in depth the effectiveness and role of Corporate Governance Secretaries, along with the relevant governance skills and knowledge.

Starting from 2023, the CSMP program will be supplemented with the latest global international practices in governance of environmental and social issues. The Corporate Governance Progression Matrix and IFC’s Climate Governance Tools integrated into the program will help Corporate Governance Secretaries become familiar with ESG and be prepared to support the company’s ESG-driven transformations. The CSMP program integrates Environmental and Social (E\&S) governance elements, implemented with technical support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
