Continuing the series of specialized seminars on technology, digital transformation, and sustainability previously organized by VIOD, on July 30, 2025, VIOD, in collaboration with SAP Vietnam, successfully held the seminar “Board Future: Digital and Sustainability Governance.”

The event attracted the participation of over 100 delegates, both in person and online, including Chairpersons, Board Members, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), and Executive Committee Members from leading enterprises.

The seminar provided timely perspectives from global and regional experts on the trends of digital transformation and sustainable development, featuring Ms. Susanna Hasenoehrl, Senior Director for Sustainability Solutions at SAP Asia Pacific, and Mr. Varun Thamba, Senior Director for Artificial Intelligence (AI) at SAP Asia Pacific and Japan.

A highlight of the event was the panel discussion, where representatives from leading corporations and organizations exchanged views on the Board’s role and responsibility in steering and overseeing strategy through multidimensional data. Speakers shared insights on integrating digital transformation and ESG into long-term strategies, fostering a data-driven culture and innovation mindset, and leveraging AI to enhance governance capability, adaptability, and sustainable competitiveness.

In her keynote address, Ms. Ha Thu Thanh – Chairperson of VIOD emphasized: “In today’s VUCA 3.0 era, digital innovation is the driving force, and sustainability is the direction. Digital transformation and ESG are not separate journeys; they must be intentionally integrated under the leadership and clear commitment of the Board. Boards cannot merely react to the present—they must become centers of innovation and leadership, where intelligence, data, and courage converge to shape the future.”

Echoing that view, Ms. Susanna Hasenoehrl from SAP highlighted: “Digital transformation is the catalyst that enables the realization of sustainability commitments. The adoption of technology—especially artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics—allows companies not only to monitor but also to forecast and optimize ESG performance across their entire value chain. Boards must take a pioneering role in this transformation journey, leading their organizations forward with proactivity and responsibility.”
