Good Corporate Governance (CG) is a solid foundation for a company’s success. Director Certification Program (DCP) is the perfect tool to help businesses achieve this goal. DCP was developed by the Vietnam Institute of Directors (VIOD) with technical support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), meeting the standards of global Institutes of Directors. DCP provides CG knowledge, covering the roles and responsibilities of boards of directors, and the functions of specialized committees. It aims to professionalize CG in Vietnam, aligning with the development of financial markets domestically, regionally within ASEAN, and globally. DCP is widely recognized for its academic quality, the practicality of its case studies, and the professional expertise of its facilitators and expert guest speakers in discussion sessions.

Real perspectives from DCP Alumni

TESTIMONIAL

Training topics are designed to develop the Board of Directors. Participants have the opportunity to listen and interact directly with speakers from many fields - from state management agencies, enterprises to auditing companies - to share knowledge and practical experience. DCP contributes to improving the management capacity as well as the level, awareness and practical understanding of Board members.

Mr.
PHAM HONG SON

Honorary Chairman of VIOD, Former Vice Chairman of State Securities Commission

DCP is one of the courses that I highly appreciate, not only providing basic legal knowledge but also providing practical sharing from a team of experienced lecturers. The sessions are an opportunity to connect and exchange with many other students and access professional networks such as the President's Club or networking activities. Thanks to that, I am always updated with new knowledge continuously and effectively.

Mr.
TRAN ANH VUONG

General Director, Western Pacific Corporation

A highlight of the program is that the knowledge is systematized and taught from a practical perspective, based on G20 and OECD standards - now codified in the Enterprise Law, Securities Law and specialized laws. The learning materials are well-compiled, helping students not only comply with the law but also access and apply international practices. I believe that the program should be more widely disseminated so that members of the Board of Directors, especially independent Board members, understand and promote their roles.

Mr.
PHAM PHAN DUNG

Independent Member of Board of Directors, Vietnam National Reinsurance Corporation (VINARE)

I enrolled in the DCP course with the desire to learn advanced management knowledge and experience, and connect with professional Corporate Administrators in the Vietnamese business community. The students are all very approachable, friendly and willing to share - which makes me proud to be a part of this community. The teaching staff left an impression on me with their expertise, thoroughness and practical value, especially in the content about the role of the Board of Directors in monitoring and managing risks.

Grandma
VU XUAN THU

After three days of training, my perspective on the role of the Board of Directors has changed significantly. I realized that Board members really play a core role in leading the sustainable development of the enterprise, protecting the interests of shareholders and stakeholders. At the same time, they also pave the way for new areas such as ESG and risk management.

Climate change governance: Corporate strategies, commitments and actions

Climate change is having a strong impact on production and business activities, forcing Vietnamese enterprises to restructure their strategies towards sustainability. This requires integrating effective governance with sustainable development governance, in which climate change governance is a key factor. The Board of Directors and the Executive Board need to play a leading role in realizing ESG commitments, developing green buildings, participating in the carbon credit market and integrating sustainability into long-term strategies.

In the context of Vietnam's economy changing strongly with many efforts to promote the private economic sector, listed enterprises are facing new opportunities along with many challenges in affirming their role and enhancing their competitiveness in the market. Building a sustainable development strategy, in line with transparency requirements and expectations from shareholders, is increasingly becoming a key concern for the executive board and especially the Board of Directors (BOD).
