With the support of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), on August 7, 2025, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Institute of Directors (VIOD) had a full day of productive discussions with the delegation from the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), led by Ms. Thay Sokphalline – Director of the Securities Issuance Supervision Department.
IFC highly values VIOD’s pioneering role in organizational development, implementation of advanced training programs, and corporate governance initiatives aimed at strengthening knowledge and practices among listed and public companies in Vietnam. Based on this foundation, IFC facilitated the connection between SERC and VIOD, with the expectation of fostering a close collaboration to develop corporate governance training programs and effective assessment tools tailored for Cambodia’s stock market.
Ms. Ha Thu Thanh – Chairperson of VIOD shared: “Although VIOD is still a young Institute of Directors compared to its regional and international peers, we have grown rapidly and steadily, backed by a team of seasoned experts with extensive experience in corporate governance assessments both in Vietnam and across ASEAN. We are confident that VIOD will be a trusted partner, ready to share knowledge, support corporate governance evaluations, and contribute to the development of an Institute of Directors in Cambodia.”
Representing SERC, Ms. Thay Sokphalline shared: “Although Cambodia’s stock market remains in its early stages with only 11 listed companies, we are committed to establishing a solid corporate governance foundation from the outset—aligned with ASEAN and international standards. We appreciate the expertise and leadership of VIOD, and we hope to build a strategic partnership with VIOD in the future.”
