On June 25, VIOD representatives and SBS2 participants met with senior leadership of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) at its headquarters in Bern. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Philipp Orga – Head of Operations and Member of SECO’s Economic Cooperation and Development Management, Mr. Christian Braendli – Head of Private Sector Development, and Mr. Jonas Grunder – Program Manager.

As a founding partner of VIOD, SECO has played a pivotal role in supporting VIOD’s mission to raise corporate governance standards aligned with ESG principles — emphasizing transparency, accountability, and sustainability. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the impactful outcomes of their collaboration to date and discussed future strategic directions. VIOD reaffirmed our commitment to driving new governance initiatives in 2025 and expressed confidence in SECO’s continued support to further accelerate the alignment of Vietnam’s capital market with international best practices.

Continuing the program, on June 27, the SBS2 delegation visited the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, WTO, and other international organizations in Geneva. The working session with H.E. Ambassador Mai Phan Dung – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of Mission – and his team provided participants with insightful updates on global business and policy trends. The session also opened avenues for international networking and fostered strategic thinking on deeper integration of Vietnam’s business community into the global economy.

Insights gained from both meetings will inform VIOD’s strategic initiatives and reinforce its role in advancing corporate governance in Vietnam. We remain steadfast in our commitment to nurturing a sustainable, transparent, and resilient corporate ecosystem that contributes to the country’s long-term development and market upgrade ambitions.
