From July 23–25, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Vietnam Institute of Directors (VIOD) took part in a regional series of events on ASEAN financial market development, with a key focus on assessing Corporate Governance (CG) practices across member states through the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS). As the official technical assessor of ACGS in Vietnam, VIOD, together with the national delegation, attended all three days of the program, which included:

  • Day 1 (23/07/2025): Closing session of technical assessors from six ASEAN member countries
  • Day 2 (24/07/2025): ASEAN Corporate Governance Conference & Awards 2025 – featuring discussions on new trends and policies in CG, and recognizing listed companies with outstanding CG practices across the region
  • Day 3 (25/07/2025): Bilateral working and networking sessions with leading CG organizations in Malaysia

On the first day, Ms. Nguyễn Minh Hiền – Director of Professional Affairs, and Ms. Nguyễn Thuỳ Linh – Head of Training, represented VIOD at the ACGS assessors’ closing session. This year’s annual meeting focused on reviewing the results of the recent assessment cycle, discussing initiatives to further enhance the value of ACGS, and engaging in in-depth exchanges on objectives, assessment criteria, and preparations for the 2025–2026 ACGS cycle.

During the discussions, VIOD’s representatives highlighted the practical value of ACGS in contributing to policy reforms and raising corporate governance standards among Vietnam’s listed companies. VIOD also proposed initiatives to further strengthen the value of ACGS for well-governed companies (those recognized in the ACGS Top Tier and considered ASEAN Assets).

VIOD reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside state regulatory bodies and the Vietnamese listed company community to promote the adoption of good governance practices, gradually aligning with ASEAN’s common standards.
